Kelly Smith ~ artist, sailor, mermaid inspired by an adventurous life. Special places in Texas, Florida, Maryland, Central America, lush jungle, tropical islands, and sailboats have all been called home. The present Sailboat Studio is constantly in motion and a challenge but also fun and adventurous as the cruising scenery changes daily. Kelly, This is a marvelous and creatively done work of fine art. I love it. You are very, very talented. To be able to paint on silk this way, you must have the magic touch (and a lot of patience too.) Keep up the GREAT work. F/V

Please tell me what you think. I can always use creative advice. Silk paintings are a labor of love-stretch the silk canvas, paint with resist, paint carefully with color, the colors run rapidly vividly and blend, dry completely, specially wrap in paper, steam for 4 hours, unwrap carefully, wash until no more bleed of color. Just one drop of misplaced dye, water, steam, touch of iron, stretch too tight or too loose, and one or a number of these things can change your intent, ruin a painting, or be a happy mistake.
