Artist's Description
Rupert is a whimsical character of mine that as an actor can double in a couple of collections. He is definitely part of my newly learned and learning ability of painting and working in layers. As an artist, in my case, it is no longer about just painting your hopefully perceived wonderful art on one canvas but about painting several layers which can be joined together in one canvas or many to tell a story and create a collection of design and color that will work together-kind of a mix and match of design that meshes beautifully. It is a different turn but that is where my heart is leading me at present.
About Kelly Smith
Kelly Smith ~ artist, sailor, mermaid inspired by an adventurous life. Special places in Texas, Florida, Maryland, Central America, lush jungle, tropical islands, and sailboats have all been called home. The present Sailboat Studio is constantly in motion and a challenge but also fun and adventurous as the cruising scenery changes daily. Mother Nature with her breathtaking beauty is the muse for my colorful artwork. I am thankful to God for the life He has blessed me with! Please enjoy!

Thanks for your comment Jane, Gregory, and Patti. I realize I did not make my question clear so removing it.I am looking into art licensing for some of my art. From what I have learned, most all of the art for licensing has to be done in layers for collections of "like" or coordinating art. What I am asking is do other artists see this as a future for themselves. Already we are having to learn a lot of software, social media, make time for creating, in addition to our already busy lives. It probably is a question best proposed on a forum:). Again.thanks for your lovely comments.

Kelly, I don't quite understand the process but if it produces results like Rupert, it is well worth it! A mixture somehow of silk painting and ordinary watercolour ? And some ink? It is vibrant, appealing and beautiful ! v/f
